Been sending gold to England. But no Francis had to get there and kill them.
He was a dirty pig who should of been in prison instead of Walter Raleigh because he wasn’t even a traitor. Even though he discovered the West Indies, AND he was he first sail all round the world, but still he is a murdurer and he disproved to be in jail.

Sir Francis Drake stole from the Spanish Armada without permission, but he explored the world for his queen and he found a lot of fruit for England. With some of his share of money he helped make England and the early Royal Navy therefore I think he was a pirate and a privateer. 🙂

Sir Francis drake was born in Devon 1540. He helped people but killed people at the same time so my opinion of sir Francis drake that he was a ok privateer because he got a lot of gold and sliver to help the poor . He went on journeys to help the queen.

We think sir Frances Drake was a hero because he stole from Spanish and gave it to his queen so we could make England rich and Elizabeth more popular.

Francis Drake was born in Devon in about 1540, but he didn’t live there long as his family moved to Kent. When he was very young (about nine or ten), Francis went to sea. He worked for a pilot who guided ships on the River Medway and River Thames. He also got to sail along the English coast, transporting fish from Yarmouth to London, and he sailed to France, trading for wine, cheese and brandy.

My opinion of sir Francis Drake is he was a specifically good priverteer and he helped the poor, needy and homeless.

It sounds like you’ve both done some really good research into Sir Francis Drake, well done!

You’ve both suggested that Drake might have been a Privateer. What do you mean by that? What exactly is a Privateer?

      According to wikipedia…
A privateer or “corsair” was a private person or ship authorized by a government by letters of marque* to attack foreign vessels during wartime. Privateering was a way of mobilizing armed ships and sailors without having to spend treasury resources or commit naval officers.

      🙂

      *Marque (other words for Marque)
      make,brand,label or trademark

I think Sir Francis Drake was a pirate and a privateer, because he made his country rich and powerful but at the same time he was starting a war with Spain. He explored many oceans on his journey including the Atlantic and the pacific. He also found the West Indies thinking that he explored the world! One of the reasons that he was a pirate is because he took money from the Spanish Armada and kept some to himself! But he brought fruit and vegetables to England so he made England much healthier!, and this is why I think he wasn’t a pirate or a privateer. 🙂

Pushing me away so I give her space. Dealing with a heart that I didn’t break. I’ll be there for you, I will care for you. I keep thinking you just don’t know

This was one of Sir Francis Drakes quotes.

To me this quote sounds a bit romantic.
So in this sinario I think again that Drake was a Privateer.

Sir Francis Drake found alot of gold, cargo, and silver.  Once he had to cut his journey short because he found so treasure. Drake was also one of the first English explorers to explore the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and the south of the Atlantic Ocean. Sir Francis Drake was also one of the first Europeans to see the west coast of Canada. Since he was one of the first English men to sail across the Pacific ocean they decided to name the passage he took the Drake Passage.

    The Death
Sir Francis Drake had a wife but no kids.  His last voyage was in 1596. He died from a high fever, after losing a battle against Puerto Rico.  His crew decided to bury him at sea (letting him go in the water dead).

In this case… (pause for effect!) I think that Drake is a Privateer!
